Our story and heritage
We are MABGE Coatings, and our story begins at home.
Our Gogo's mud hut is rendered in clay, not for lack of better options, but because nothing better was needed. The hands that smoothed those walls carried deep building science, refined over generations without a laboratory to certify it: clay to trap the afternoon cool, walls re-worked with each season, floors burnished to a natural shine under bare feet. Building with earth, in complete harmony with the environment.
The same knowledge raised the towering walls of Great Zimbabwe, transformed coral into lime along the Swahili coast, and sustains the earthen architecture of the Sahel. We are inspired by the wisdom our ancestors passed down: building with clay, lime and stone, and reminding us that beautiful, lasting spaces are created in harmony with nature, not in spite of it.
Africa never stopped building with earth. Modern industry simply looked away.
The MABGE difference
MABGE didn't. We founded this company to bridge ancient knowledge with a modern plant: clay and lime refined for consistency, strengthened for high-traffic wear, and colour-matched for contemporary architecture.
